Meet the owners

OUR STORY

Don and I (Ashlee) met in 2014, shortly after I started my freshman year of college. I fondly remember meeting his beautiful husky, Marley, who tragically passed away when she was only two years old. We started dating in 2015 and rescued our first husky together, who is now approaching 12 years old. Don graduated from USF in 2016 with a finance degree, while I earned my Event Management degree from UCF in 2017.

In 2019, we married and relocated to "the country" seeking a slower pace of life and venturing into farming. Our family grew with the adoption of a second dog, a shepherd-husky mix who is a true "daddy's boy" and will soon turn six. In 2021, we welcomed a less furry addition: our daughter, an animal lover who has profoundly changed our lives for the better. The newest furry family member joined in 2023, a rescue we spotted with a Humane Society volunteer, just under a year old. He is the sweetest, most loving dog and absolutely adores kids which is great for our daughter. But just when we thought we were done “collecting” dogs, we adopted a 10 week old german shepherd mix from another rescue in September of 2025. We instantly fell in love and, now proudly wear the label "crazy dog people," but we couldn't be happier.

Understanding the challenge of finding trustworthy pet care, we established Wags to Whiskers Pet Care. Both Don and I grew up with animals—Don with Shepherds and Huskies, while I was on the opposite side of the size spectrum with Chihuahuas. We are dedicated to patient, individualized pet care, recognizing that each pet has unique needs. We look forward to meeting all of your beloved companions and caring for them as our own.
